The original of this is at my stepfather's house, where it haunts the guest bedroom, ruining my sleep. As a challenge, I wanted to make a map where the perspective changed from illustration to birds-eye to traditional, as though the world was unfurling in the distance.
I was inspired by Mira Grant's novel, Into the Drowning Deep (what if mermaids were apex predators?), and I wanted to experiment with a different flavor of predator.
